Barbara Ann Corcora

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's first Shark investors was a featured guest of every episode of Shark Tank. She has been involved in 53 deals as of February 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 investment that will provide 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, her mother was an errand-taker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced between jobs throughout Corcoran's youth. Her family often depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who would drink often and was rude to her mother. Corcoran struggled in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran went to an Catholic elementary school in her area and started the high school year at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
